Darien's Chitlin' Circuit
Description
During the early twentieth century, African American musicians traveled throughout the South and the North on the Chitlin' Circuit. This was a circuit of musicians who traveled to local theatres, restaurants and other stages. One of the stops on the Southern Circuit was located in Darien. A host community of the Smithsonian's New Harmonies: Celebrating American Roots Music exhibit, Darien is learning more about their heritage in the Chitlin' Circuit.
